so in 2 days we're heading to basel for the contemporary art galore: art basel, scope, volta6, hot art fair... and it looks pretty promising: one big teaser being ai wei wei installation in front of the main exhibition hall. we solemnly pledge to deliver a photo report in time - honest! ;-))

human billboards

roomservice magazine has launched their first issue, of which we're the proud owner (thnx jacco)! the name of this edition is human billboards, referring to a purchase of "human space" through ebay, to be used for advertising. so if u wanna have yr company logo on people's faces, heads, butts etc, u know who to call, huh ;-)
check their website for a preview or better, support these guys with their next project by ordering your copy online! and btw, we have already selected a nice piece of meat for the hfa logo placement... because we're worth it :-P

You can read the piece here: http://artistmarketingsalon.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/article-by-mira-bartok-the-grant-queen/and also peruse their site for a plethora of opportunities and artist marketing advice. The article isn't just for visual artists but for artists of all kinds. It's a reprint of a piece I had published on my blog a year or two ago.

New Deadlines for: Performing Artists, Emerging Filmmakers and MFA Students in Visual Arts!
(MFA STUDENTS/VISUAL ARTS) CAA Professional Development Fellowships: Full details on the recently restored Professional-Development Fellowships in the Visual Arts, including the application form, have just been posted to the CAA website.
Later this fall, CAA will award five grants of $5,000 each to outstanding students who will receive MFA degrees in calendar year 2011. Honorable mentions, awarded at the discretion of the jury, will receive a free one-year CAA membership and complimentary registration to the Annual Conference.
CAA’s Professional-Development Fellowships in the Visual Arts offer financial assistance to promising MFA candidates. Fellows are honored with grants to help them with various aspects of their work, whether it be for job-search expenses or purchasing materials for the studio. CAA believes a grant of this kind, without contingencies, can best facilitate the transition between graduate studies and professional careers. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, October 1, 2010. For more information, go to the CAA website: http://www.collegeart.org/fellowships/
