Showtime: Olek goes stylish b/w, aka fluo is so 2010!
The place to be tonight is Jonathan Levine gallery on the Lower East Side for the opening reception of Olek's latest show.
The Bad Artists Imitate, The Great Artists Steal is Olek's first solo in the gallery, presenting site-specific installation of brand new crocheted universe. The title of the exhibition refers to a piece of Banksy, in which he carved the quote - originally by Pablo Picasso - into stone, crossed out the late artist's name and replaced it with his own.
And now a big surprise: rather than the fluorescent palette typical of Olek's previous work, her new "babies" are all featured in a cool grey-scale camouflage pattern. Next to several 3-dimensional pieces, Olek will also present her branded "crocheted paintings" featuring quotes such as Marylin Monroe's If I go down on my knees it is not to pray.
The presence of celebrities is guaranteed, especially since According 2G has confirmed he was attending :-). So better don't miss it!
