Klaustrid (the Monastery) is a 3-6 week residency for artists, writers and scholars, Icelandic or foreign. The residence is managed by The Institute of Gunnar Gunnarsson. (ENVIRONMENTAL ARTISTS) Residencies in Donegal, Ireland
Donegal County Council’s Public Art Office, in partnership with Leonardo/OLATS, seeks artists for one of five residencies (4-11 weeks) interested in exploring how art can address issues around global warming and climate change in County Donegal. Residencies will be of 4-11 weeks in duration (although proposals for shorter or longer periods can be considered). The residencies will not be studio based. The Regional Cultural Centre and other bodies in the region may accommodate proposals, which require studio space. The successful artists will not necessarily have to be resident in Donegal for the entire duration of the project. (ARTISTS) Denali National Park Artist-in-Residence Program
Applications for the 2010 Denali National Park Artist-in-Residence Program are now being accepted. Applications are due Oct. 31, 2009 and notifications will be made by November 30, 2009. The Artist-in-Residence program at Denali National Park began in 2001, and offers artists the opportunity to pursue their work amidst the natural splendors of Denali Park. The park currently provides the use of the historic East Fork Cabin for ten-day periods from June through August. ART AND ECOLOGY PROJECTS
“Adaptation residencies” in Mandurah, Western Australia

Lake Clifton, situated in one of the fastest growing Australian regional cities is home of one of the last remaining colonies of the very slow growing Thrombolites (or ‘living rocks’). The uniqueness and fragile existence of the Lake’s thrombolite reef is surrounded by a rich and varied historical, cultural and natural ecology. Adaptation presents an exceptional opportunity for artists to engage with a number of potential narratives. Projects may engage with a variety of topics including the historical importance of the thrombolites in evolution, the areas cultural history, the contradictory nature of human activity and ecology, global warming and its effects, developmental impacts, evolution of animal species and bioprospecting.
Residencies offered in: visual arts, sound art, music, literature, performance, biological arts, ecological arts, tactical media, community and participatory arts.

(MEDIA ARTISTS) CIANT LAB 2009 Arts Research Residencies in Prague
Where: CIANT, Prague, Czech Republic

Media artists from the Czech Republic and beyond, are invited to apply for a three-month arts research residency at CIANT LAB in Prague, Czech Republic, between April to end of 2009. The deadline for applications is Friday the 3rd of April 2009.
Artists are offered a media laboratory space, a payment of 1000 EUR per month and access to lab equipment and technical support. The emphasis for this residency is on collaborative research and development in the field of networked/distributed performance. Presently, two positions are on offer:
A. Area of 3D modeling (3ds MAX), avatar creation and integration with motion capture systems driven virtual environments,
B. Area of interactive sound creation (max/MSP, PD, etc.).
