between science & art: helen pynor
with a backgrounds in the biological sciences and the visual arts, australian artist helen pynor explores the interior of the human body, evoking a sense of slippage between time, cultural memory, and the tissues of the body.
currently based in london, she has taken part in the recent group exhibition brainstorm at gv art, london, exhibiting a photograph titled ‘headache’ (see above). the exhibition, which aimed to explore the human brain in a dialogue between the arts and sciences, generated big controversy in the media around the use of human brain tissue within the context of art.
