(LATINO ARTISTS) The National Association of Latino Arts and Culture Fund for the Arts: The NALAC Fund for the Arts awards a small number of fellowships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to support artists whose work demonstrates excellence and the potential for
impacting the Latino arts field. Examples of acceptable expenses for NFA fellowships include but are not limited to: costs for the creation or completion of new work, travel, study, professional development, living expenses, equipment, hiring of assistants, costs for documentation, production expenses and maintenance. Projects must begin after January 1, 2011 and must end by December 31, 2011. Deadline September 24, 2010.

(ALL) American Academy in Berlin—Berlin Prize Fellowship: Residential fellowships offer a stipend ranging from $3,500 to $5,000 per month, round-trip airfare, housing at the Academy, and partial board to emerging as well as established scholars, writers, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin for an academic semester or in rare cases for an entire academic year. In the case of the Bosch Fellowship in Public Policy, shorter stays of six to eight weeks may be arranged. Fellows are expected to be in residence at the Academy during the entire term of the award. (WRITERS) Bronx Council on the Arts—Writers' Center Fellowship and Residency: The Bronx Writers' Center Fellowship annually awards two nine-month literary fellowships to writers who reside in the Bronx, regardless of age but who are not enrolled as full-time students. An award of $5,000 is given to each winner and a community service project at the Bronx Writers' Center is required. All eligible applicants must submit four copies of a representative body of work of no more than ten pages of poetry or twenty pages of fiction. The work should display professional accomplishment and their commitment to a literary career. Consult the web site for more information. (WRITERS) International Retreat for Writers at Hawthornden Castle: The retreat offers residencies of four weeks for five published creative writers (novelists, poets, playwrights) at a time. Residencies, which include room and board, are scheduled in spring, summer, and fall. Write for further information and application. (WRITERS) The Fielding Programme Residency: The Fielding Programme is a unique residency opportunity for writers with a project in hand. It offers one-to-one support for your novel, poetry or play in the spectacular setting of Cove Park, Scotland's international artist residency centre. High quality private accommodation, a very small group of fellow writers (max 6) and a friendly convivial atmosphere complete the experience. Come for one week or two depending on your project. (COMIC BOOK /GRAPHIC NOVEL ARTISTS) Xeric Foundation Grants: Grants of up to $5,000 are offered to assist comic book creators with some of the costs of self-publishing (physical production and distribution, printing, color separation, solicitation, shipping). Grants are not intended to support an artist/writer fully through the process of self-publishing, but rather to encourage creators to learn from the experience of working toward such a goal. (WRITERS) The M Literary Residency Program: offers two residencies, one in Shanghai, China and one in Pondicherry, India. The residencies are each three months long and candidates should only apply for one. Both writing fellows receive a total of $1,000 to cover living costs. The program is open to writers of fiction, literary non-fiction, or poetry whose residence in India or China would benefit their work. The program is intended to help foster greater cultural and artistic connections across individuals and communities. (ALL) The Awesome Foundation for Arts and Sciences $1000 Award: $1000 grant for any creative project. This is a pretty simple grant. Here's the deal: you write a 500 word paragraph, stating what you'd like to do with $1000 and they will consider your creative project. They accept these short proposals every month. (COMIC BOOK ARTISTS) Jay Kennedy Scholarship: The annual Jay Kennedy Scholarship, in memory of the late King Features editor, was funded by an initial $100,000 grant from the Hearst Foundation/King Features Syndicate and additional generous donations from Jerry Scott, Jim Borgman, Patrick McDonnell and many other prominent cartoonists. Submissions are adjudicated by a panel of top cartoonists and an award is given to the best college cartoonist. The recipient is feted at the annual NCS Reuben Awards Convention attended by many of the world’s leading cartoonists. Applicants must be college students in the United States, Canada or Mexico that will be in their Junior or Senior year of college during the 2010-2011 academic year. (KANSAS ARTISTS) Rocket Grants/Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas: With support from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Charlotte Street Foundation and the Spencer Museum of Art are partnering to fuel the dynamism of our region’s art ecology by providing direct support for innovative, experimental, artist-driven, and artist-centered projects. Rocket Grants will fund projects that exist outside of established institutions, occur outside of traditional forms of support, challenge traditional methods of production or presentation, add energy and diversity to the field of arts activity in our area, and provide opportunities for the creative growth of those involved. Grants will provide up to $4000 support for selected projects, with a maximum of $40,000 to be awarded in 2010.

Applications will be accepted from artists, curators, collectives, collaboratives, partnerships, and artist‐run spaces residing within an 80 mile radius of the Kansas City metropolitan area. interdisciplinary projects. Performing artists are eligible to apply if their work includes a strong

(TEXAS ARTISTS) Artadia: The Fund for Art and Dialogue is now accepting applications for the Artadia Awards 2010 Houston from all visual artists living and working in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Individual artists and collaboratives working in all media and at any point in their career are strongly encouraged to apply. Awardees will be selected in the spring of 2010 through Artadia’s two-tiered jury process. This is Artadia’s fifth awards cycle in Houston. (ARTISTS) Joyce Fellowship: Americans for the Arts is pleased to announce applications for Americans for the Arts' Professional Development Fund for Emerging Arts Leaders of Color. A total of five Joyce Fellows from the Great Lakes region (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin) will be selected to participate in this program in 2010. Fellows will receive stipends of $3,000 to support their attendance at the 2010 Americans for the Arts 50th Anniversary Summit/Annual Convention, 2010 National Arts Marketing Project Conference, and 2011 Arts Advocacy Day. In addition, fellows will have special opportunities to meet field leaders, connect with mentors, and receive individualized career coaching. (WRITERS) Emerging Voices Program
Emerging Voices is an intensive eight-month program involving writers in the early stages of their literary careers. The program offers a $1,000 stipend and includes one-on-one sessions with mentors, seminars on topics such as editing or working with agents, master classes with a renowned novelist, courses in the Writers’ Program at UCLA Extension, one-month teaching residencies, a monthly book group, and literary readings. It culminates in a public reading and reception. No age restrictions; selection is not based solely on economic need. Deadline: August 14, 2009 for the 2010 cycle. ***a note on this one: I'm not sure if Pen gives more than $1,000. They say on the website that it is an eight month fellowship but I don't know if that means more money. Double check about their funding. The fellowship award might just be in the form of the other opportunities they offer, such as master classes.

(ARTISTS) Santo Foundation Artists Grants
Santo Foundation is offering two $2,500 grants to individual visual artists working in any area of expression, including film, media arts and performance art. The Santo Foundation was established to recognize and assist the careers of individual artists. Its mission is to provide individual grants, travel stipends and artist-in-residence/studio exchanges in major cultural centers. (ARTISTS) Artloft/Connor Meigs Art Award
The Connor Meigs Art Award is a merit award to help a young artist launch his or her career. Open to new BFA graduates. It includes a month-long solo exhibit (with no commission charged on sales), professional mentoring, invitations, mailing, artist's reception, lodging, and a $1,000 honorarium. (PHOTOGRAPHERS) Photography Awards Fellowship
En Foco’s New Works Photography Awards Fellowship is an annual program selecting three or more U.S. photographers of Latino, African, or Asian heritage and Native Peoples of the Americas and the Pacific. Three photographers will be selected from an open and national call for entries to receive a $1,000 honorarium, photo-related supplies, technical assistance, a photographer’s page on enfoco.org, an article in Nueva Luz, an En Foco membership, and a culminating group exhibition in New York. (ARTISTS) Subsidized Studio Spaces
Art Center/South Florida offers subsidized studio spaces for emerging artists. Acceptance into the Juried Artist Program hinges upon strength of work, a well conceived artist statement and the potential to benefit from a residency. Applications are reviewed bi-annually.

(COMM.-BASED ARTISTS) Transnational Cultural Remittances Grant Program
NALAC'S Transnational Cultural Remittances Grant Program funds project and planning grants to strengthen the exchange of art and culture between communities linked by people's migration from one country to another. This program is available to individuals, collectives, and community-based organizations that are engaged in the practical of exchange of culture through transnational community connections developed and maintained by culturally and economically-linked communities. Projects demonstrating an ongoing connection between two or more of the following countries will be considered: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and the United States. Grants range anywhere from $2,000 up to $20,000. Artists and non-governmental agencies (NGOs) in any of the countries listed may apply. Applicants do not have to include the United States to be considered. Projects are open to numerous possibilities. The NALAC also offers grants that provide financial support to Latino working artists and Latino arts organizations through direct training and technical assistance. Grants range from $2,500 to $10,000. A Master Arts Grant is also offered to recognize an established Latino artist for his/her work in their community, and to provide support that enables the Master Artist to serve as a mentor to another artist in the community. (AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTISTS) William H. Johnson Prize
The William H. Johnson Foundation for the Arts is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that seeks to encourage African American artists early in their careers through its annual award, The William H. Johnson Prize. Early career African American artists who work in painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, installation and/or new genre are eligible to apply. "Early career" is interpreted liberally to include artists who have finished their academic work and who have produced mature work for less than ten years. (FILMMAKERS) Feature-Film Production Grants
The Global Film Initiative announces the Summer 2009 cycle feature-film Production Grants Program in its continuing effort to promote original filmmaking from individuals around the world. Grants are awarded twice a year to filmmakers whose work exhibits artistic excellence, authentic self-representation, and accomplished story-telling. The Grants Program furthers the development of local film industries while offering audiences a variety of cultural perspectives on daily life from around the world. Grants received are used to support the completion of film production, and to subsidize post-production costs. Grants up to $10,000. Grants are not available for documentary or short films, and are only available to the following regions: Latin American, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East (excluding Iran), Asia (excluding Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan), and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand. (UK ARTISTS) Innovative Arts Project Grants
The Elephant Trust was set up to make it possible for artists and those presenting their work to undertake and complete projects when frustrated by lack of funds. It is committed to helping artists and institutions that depart from the routine and signal new, distinct and imaginative sets of possibilities. Given the Trust’s modest resources, grants have usually been limited to £2,000 but larger grants may be considered. Funding priority is given to artists and to small organisations and galleries. No grants are available for educational or other study purposes. / No grants are available for residencies or research. / No grants are available for projects taking place outside the UK.
