Famous & controversial art critic Benjamin Genocchio reports on the Iranian contemporary art scene in a recent article on ArtInfo. He titled his piece "The Insanity of Iran" and this seems an understatement when you read the different stories of artists and gallery owners. He pictures a deeply corrupt society - morally, socially, politically, and economically - where it is difficult, often even dangerous to live and work as an artist. Nevertheless, there is a lot of interesting art happening in Teherans public and private galleries.
