Fellowships for Glass Artists, Creative Collaborators and More!

Hey everyone...stay cool this summer and make sure you remember to get your fall applications in to those residencies, fellowships and grants. A lot of deadlines for big, big things are coming up this fall, such as the Guggenheim, The American Scandinavian Foundation, and the Radcliffe Fellowship.

(ARTISTS) Creative Glass Center of America at WheatonArts, Fellowship Opportunities for Glass Artists—The CGCA Fellowship Program is a professional program providing focused, self-directed artists with 3-month and 6-week fellowships. The CGCA program provides housing, the facilities, equipment and technical orientation within a respectful sanctuary of concentrated time. The CGCA Fellowship Program provides emerging and mid-career artists unrestricted access to the facilities and materials necessary for blown, sculpted, cast and kiln formed glass.

The WheatonArts Glass Studio is a dramatic 3000 sq. ft. building modeled on the original T.C. Wheaton Factory, and is designed to accommodate a wide variety of glassworking techniques.

(ALL) ECF - Collaboration Grants —Collaboration Grants support independent cultural organizations working together across borders and disciplines.

Collaboration Grants fund transnational, cross-sectoral activities by independent cultural and artistic organisations working together or with organisations from other sectors. The main applicant needs to be a cultural organisation based in Europe (EU Europe and EU Neighbourhood region), while partner applicants can work in sectors outside the cultural field.

ECF regards the ideal ‘collaboration’ as one that brings a renewed understanding of Europe to people of all backgrounds, and inspires them to regard the world’s future as a shared enterprise. We particularly admire efforts that are daring, different and challenge the status quo. The average award funded is €15,000 with the maximum being €30,000.

Summer Deadlines for Writers, Media Artists, Landscape Designers and More!

(WRITERS) Authors League Fund Emergency Funds: The Authors League Fund was established by the Authors League of America, Inc., to help career authors and dramatists in the United States and in financial distress due to an urgent situation. The Fund makes interest-free loans to professional writers in need; for example, writers with health problems and inadequate health insurance, or older writers whose income has ceased. Loan-seekers must show need and documentation of their professional status. (MEDIA ARTS) The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) Media Fund / Open Door Completion Fund – Awards averaging $20,000 - $30,000 to independent media producers for completion of provocative and engaging projects intended for public TV broadcast and in final post-production phase. Projects should appeal to Asian American viewers AND to a broader TV audience. CAAM considers most genres, including drama, documentary, experimental, animation, and mixed genre. (ALL) NEA Access to Artistic Excellence Grants – Supports projects that encourage and support artistic creativity, preserve our diverse cultural heritage, and make the arts more widely available in communities throughout the country. Particularly relevant are projects that demonstrate innovation by generating new forms of art making, new directions in the field, and/or innovative uses of creative resources, as well as those that extend the arts to underserved populations. (FILMMAKERS) San Francisco Film Society / Kenneth Rainin Foundation Filmmaking Grants Program (Fall, 2011) – Provides funding for narrative feature films made in the San Francisco Bay Area that, through plot, character, theme, or setting, significantly explore human and civil rights, anti-discrimination, gender and sexual identity, and other urgent social justice issues of our time. Grants support screenwriting and script development, preproduction, and post-production expenses. In addition to a cash grant, recipients will receive a range of benefits through the society’s filmmaker services programs. Applicants must be in a key creative role (screenwriter, producer, or director), be at least 18 years old, have a strong connection to the San Francisco Bay Area, and be SFFS members at the Filmmaker Pro level or above (membership is $90/year and can be purchased at time of application). Full-time students ineligible. Application process begins with submission of Letter of Inquiry on the SFFS website; finalists will be asked to submit further materials. (LANDSCAPE ARTISTS/DESIGNERS) CDAN Research Grants: Think Landscape 2010: Fundación Beulas, through the CDAN, is launching in 2010 its first research grants, for the purpose of promoting studies of the theoretical aspects of landscape, encouraging drafting general projects that may pave the way for further studies. The research projects that may be awarded this grant will address the generic theme of landscape, conceived in all its facets: artistic, aesthetic, historical, geographical, patrimonial, economical, territorial, biological, etc.

The grant is intended for individual researchers, from the European Union and Latin American countries, who demonstrate their experience, such as doctoral professors, though it is not necessary that they be attached to a university.
