The theatre piece "The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic" opens internationally on July 9 during Manchester International Festival event at The Lowry. The piece centres on the life of the "godmother of performance art" who stars in it alongside an international cast of actors (including Willem Dafoe) and performance artists. The piece is co-created by Bob Wilson, celebrated American theatre director.
Wilson had received carte blanche from Abramovic to stage her life as he sees fit, with Abramovic providing the crude research material (personal letters, concepts, photographs etc).
