(ALL) Santa Fe Art Institute Residencies: (1-3 months, year-round, Santa Fe, NM) – Residencies between 1-3 months for creative artists in all fields, including film and media artists, performing artists, and writers. Organization provides: housing and studios, including access to the College of Santa Fe’s performance and moving-image arts facilities and the Institute’s digital media lab and exhibition/installment space. Residents are encouraged to participate in the Institute’s outreach program, including public presentations of work, workshops, and individual critiques with students in the community. (ALL) Seaside, Florida Residencies: Escape to Create offers two four-week sessions are offered every January and February to artists working in the literary arts, musical composition, scholarship, visual and interdisciplinary arts. 2011 residency sessions are: January 3 - 30 or January 31 - February 27. Artists live and work in private cottages or apartments that have been generously donated in support of their creative work. Travel costs are the responsibility to the artist. Artists receive a $100 weekly stipend and are provided a weekly group dinner in a home environment. Artists are required to contribute community service such as a reading, a performance, or a lecture. School visitations are also encouraged. Deadline June 15, 2010.

(ALL) Caldera Residencies in Portland, OR: Each winter, National and International visual artists, writers, dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers, interdisciplinary artists, collaborators, performance artists, media and design artists, architects, scientists and engineers apply to come to caldera for month-long residencies. Each accepted resident is given the time, space and solitude to devote themselves to their work in a private creek-side cottage with additional rehearsal and studio space nearby. Since caldera's residencies are designed to support the creative process, we don't require residents to produce a specific product. Deadline June 15, 2010.

(ALL) A Studio in the Woods Residencies: Visual, musician/composing, performance, literary, new media, and interdisciplinary artists. Both established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply, but a rigorous work ethic and demonstrated commitment to environmental issues are expected. Students are not eligible. The winning script will receive $10,000. Submitted plays must explore scientific and/or technological stories, themes, issues and/or events. (ARTISTS) Artist-in-Residence Program at SF Recycling & Disposal, Inc.: The goal of the Artist In Residence Program at SF Recycling & Disposal, Inc. is to use art to inspire people to recycle more and conserve natural resources. The company provides selected local artists with the opportunity to create art using materials they gather from San Francisco's refuse. This includes 24-hour access to a well-equipped studio, a monthly stipend, and an exhibit at the end of their residency, but artists seem most excited about having 24-hour access to the materials. URGENT DEADLINES FOR FELLOWSHIPS, RESIDENCIES AND MORE!

(PRINTMAKERS) St. Michael's Printshop Residency in Newfoundland: Each year St. Michael's Printshop invites applications from international, national and provincial artists who wish to come and work at the Printshop for a one-month period. A total of six residencies are offered during the year. The one-month residency must be completed during the period of April 1st in the year in which it is awarded and March 31st of the following year. During the residency, the artist will be asked to give a workshop for the membership of the Printshop. Up to $1500 in funding for each artist plus 24-hour access to all facilities. (ALL) Radcliffe Fellowships: Fellowships for creative artists and scholars in the humanities. Stipends are funded up to $65,000 for one year with additional funds for project expenses. Some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant. If so directed, Radcliffe will pay the stipend to the fellow's home institution. Fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which extends from early September 2010 through June 30, 2011. Visual artists and film, video, sound, and new media artists may apply to come for one semester only. The stipend is $32,500. Fellows are expected to be free of their regular commitments so they may devote themselves full time to the work outlined in their proposal. Since this is a residential fellowship, fellows are expected to reside in the Boston area during that period and to have their primary office at the Institute so that they can participate fully in the life of the community. (WRITERS) Amsterdam Writer-in-Residence Program: Amsterdam Writer-in-Residence Program is from three to five months in the heart of the old city. Guest writers use their time in Amsterdam for their own work and research, but they will also be involved in the city's literary and cultural life. It has been decided to give preference to those authors whose works have been translated into Dutch or will be shortly, and authors who work in a wide range of literary genres. (WRITERS) Hodder Fellowship: The Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton offers the Hodder Fellowship, a fellowship created for artists in the early stages of their careers. In keeping with the bequest of Mary MacKall Gwinn Hodder, it is awarded to individuals during that crucial period when they have demonstrated exceptional promise but have not yet received widespread recognition. Typically, Hodder Fellows are poets, playwrights, novelists, creative nonfiction writers and translators who have published one highly acclaimed book and are undertaking significant new work that might not be possible without the “studious leisure” afforded by this fellowship. Hodder Fellows spend an academic year at Princeton pursuing independent projects. Preference is given to individuals outside of academia, and candidates for the Ph.D. degree are not eligible. (FILMMAKERS) Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Grants: The Pacific Pioneer Fund gives grants to emerging documentary filmmakers or videographers who live and work in California, Oregon, and Washington. The term "emerging" is intended to denote a person committed to the craft of making documentaries, who has demonstrated that commitment by several years - but no more than ten - practical film or video experience. (MEDIA/FILM) Artist-in-Residence in Boston: The Artist in Residency at HOME, Inc. offers a three month to six month residency which may be renewable for an additional six months upon mutual agreement. The Residency provides free access to HOME's video production facilities at the HOME studios in Jamaica Plain (Boston, MA). Facilities include access to 4 Apple Studio Suite equipped editing systems, with Live Type, Motion, Final Cut Pro and other software. Additional equipment includes Betacam SP editing deck, and DVCAM camcorders, a camera boom, wireless microphones, fluid head tripods, lights etc. They also can provide a small office space. At this point there is no stipend included with the residency. HOME is particularly interested in video artists who are working on projects that have some social theme or value. (ARTISTS) Oregon College of Art and Craft Artist-in-Residence Program

The OCAC residency program in Portland, Oregon provides artists with time to think, and to immerse themselves in the making. Whether an emerging or a nationally known artist; residents have the freedom to explore, experiment, interact and create. The OCAC offers two kinds of residencies, a Junior residency and a Senior residency. Artists can apply anytime. The Junior Residency provides recent MFA graduates with sixteen weeks of focused work time during the fall or spring semester. Applications are accepted from artists working in a specified craft medium. During the semester, residents take advantage of the vibrant college community, interacting with students, faculty and staff. The Senior Residency is a six-week long program in the summer. This residency offers mid-career artists a break from their scheduled lives to focus on their work. Applicants working in any of the College’s craft media may apply. Residencies are open to only US artists. All residents are provided with nearby housing, a stipend, and materials and travel reimbursement. (ARTISTS) Roswell Artist-in-Residency Program

Roswell Artist-in-Residency Program in Roswell, New Mexico, U. S. A. Well known by artists as the "Gift of Time", the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program was established in 1967 to provide gifted studio based visual artists with the unique opportunity to concentrate on their work in a supportive, collegial environment for a whole year. This "gift of time" allows artists to work without distraction in an effort to break new ground and focus on individual goals. In-residence grants are offered to artists involved in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, installation and other fine art media. Grants are not made in the disciplines of performance art or production crafts.

Residencies are for one year. Artists are housed in a complex of six houses and 10 studios located on forty acres of land. Each artist is provided with a house that can amply accommodate either a single person or a family. Rent, utilities (except telephone), repairs and maintenance costs are borne by the Program. ***While the visa process for non-US residents participating in their program has improved somewhat, they are still limited in their ability to assist with the long term visa issues that may arise for foreign participating artists. NEW FELLOWSHIPS, GRANTS AND RESIDENCIES

(FILMMAKERS) Reach Film Fellowship
Cinereach Seeking Young Filmmakers for $5,000 Fellowship - Deadline July 15. Cinereach, a not-for-profit dedicated to supporting and producing artful films that depict underrepresented perspectives, cross cultural boundaries, and promote dialogue, is currently seeking applicants for its annual Reach Film Fellowship.The prestigious six-month program supports young filmmakers with grants, resources, and industry mentors who help guide their short films through all stages of production.The application deadline is July 15, 2009. Applications and guidelines can be found at http://www.reachfilmfellowship.com/. Four winning applicants will be awarded $5,000 and be mentored by an established filmmaker. Fellows also receive production support from sponsors, workshops, career coaching, and industry exposure. Industry judges will award an additional $5,000 to the most outstanding film of the four, which will also screen at Cinereach’s annual Reach Out event in the spring. The fellowship is open to filmmakers who completed film studies programs in 2008 or 2009. This year, self-taught filmmakers may also apply, but are advised to discuss their eligibility with Cinereach staff before submitting an application. Applicants must also be able to reside in the New York Tri-State area from August through April of 2009/2010 to meet the Fellowship requirements. Cinereach also has a large granting program for emerging and established filmmakers. There are two letter of inquiry deadlines annually for this program, June 1 and December 1. (COMPOSERS) Art Song Competition
Program Administered by ASCAP's (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Concert Music Department and the Lotte Lehmann Foundation announce the second ASCAP/Lotte Lehmann Foundation Art Song Competition. The competition, named for the legendary soprano Lotte Lehmann, was established in 2005 to recognize talented young composers who write for the voice. First Prize will be a $3,500 commission to compose a Song Cycle for voice and piano, to be published by E.C. Schirmer, and performed in three major American cities. Second Prize ($1,000) and Third Prize ($500) will be awarded a commission to compose an art song for voice and piano. Fourth Prize, The Damien Top Prize will be a $500 commission to set a poem by Andrée Brunin to be premiered at the 2010 Albert Roussel International Festival in France. Applicants must be citizens, permanent residents of the United States, or enrolled students with student visas, who will not reach their 30th birthday by January 1, 2010. (ACTORS) Resident Actor Fellowship
The Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship is sponserd by The Theatre Communications Group. To apply, you must be early- to mid-career actors and have completed training within the last fifteen years. Fellowship recipients in the "Extraordinary Potential" catagory will receive $15,000 and up to $10,000 in student loan repayment. Recipients in the Distinguished Achievement category have demonstrated considerable experience in professional theatre with a substantial body of work, and will receive $25,000. The TCG member host theatre receives $7,500. This Fellowship is a wonderful opportunity for exceptionally talented actors. By supporting actors of both Extraordinary Potential and Distinguished Achievement, the Fox Fellowship seeks to transform and deepen the relationship between an actor and a not-for-profit theatre. The Fellowship is driven by the actor’s artistic and professional goals, and asks the theatre to collaborate with the actor in pursuing their goals and working outside of their comfort zone. The Ruth & Harold Chenven Foundation (RHCF) gives annual awards to individual artists living and working in the United States who are engaged in or planning a craft or visual art project. The RHCF does not accept film, video, performance art, or music submissions. It is expected that applicants will be working artists who have a developed body of work. The maximum award is $1,500. The Writers Exchange Program is designed to encourage a sharing of works and resources among emerging writers nationwide. A poet and a fiction writer from a designated state are chosen annually. Each receives a $500 honorarium and gives readings and meets with the literary community in New York City during October. All related travel and lodging expenses and a daily stipend are covered. The Bard Fiction Prize annually recognizes a promising young fiction writer under the age of 39; it consists of a $30,000 award and appointment as writer-in-residence at Bard College for one semester. Deadline: August 8. The Disney-ABC Writing Fellowship selects up to eleven writers annually to work full-time at developing their craft in the Disney-ABC Studios' features or television division. The one-year fellowships, beginning in October, offer a salary of $50,000 plus benefits. No previous film or television experience is necessary, but writing samples are required. Residencies for artists from all disciplines, including writers, are available for up to nine months. All four residency spaces will be occupied by writers of all genres—prose, poetry, illustrated books, screen and play writing—with a studio space available for collaborations and impromptu performances or readings. Oregon Literary Fellowships and the Women Writers Fellowship help those in need of funds initiate, develop, or complete a literary project in poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction, drama, or literature for young readers. The Women Writers Fellowship gives special attention to work that explores experiences of race, class, physical disability, or sexual orientation. The minimum amount awarded for each fellowship is $2,500. See web site for guidelines and application.

Eight to ten fellowships of $6,500 each are awarded in odd-numbered years to recognize the achievements of Washington poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. Fellowship recipients must develop and produce a public event, such as a reading, lecture, or workshop. Residents of Washington State who are at least 18 years old and are not matriculated students are eligible. Submit up to 15 pages of poetry or 20 pages of prose, a resume, and proof of residency by June 8. There is no entry fee. ART AND ECOLOGY RESIDENCY IN OREGON

(ALL) ART AND ECOLOGY RESIDENCY
Sitka Center Art and Ecology Program
Sitka’s residency program is designed for an artist, writer, or naturalist who has earned a BA, BS, BFA, and/or MA, MS, MFA, PHD degree or has equivalent professional experience. It is open to visual artists, naturalists, writers, and musicians. Selection by the Residency Committee will include consideration in three categories:
* Emerging Artist/Writer/Naturalist
* Mid-Career Artist/Writer/Naturalist
* Artist/Writer/Naturalist on Sabbatical
They also offer a residency in Printmaking.
Application Deadline: April 21, 2009
You may apply for either a fall or spring residency of up to four months. Please specify on your application your preference (October-January or February-May). Periods shorter than four months may be available, but preference will be given to applications for four-month residencies. Please indicate if you have had a residency at a non-profit arts institution in the last two years. This may be considered as a determining factor between two equally qualified applicants.
